It feels good to do good! Years ago, a group of young men decided to make a difference in their community. They began doing block cleanups and feeding the homeless, naming their project The Block Gives Back. Recently, Garrett Churchill lent a helping hand with their latest mission: tackling a park cleanup.
Lending A Helping Hand
One of our own, Angel Medina, has been a part of The Block Gives Back for a number of years, and we’ve been discussing ways to help. Their latest project required a ton of work and top-of-the-line equipment – cleaning up a park is no easy feat!
On top of that, parks are crucial for building happy and healthy communities. They provide a beautiful space for gathering and an open area for anyone to enjoy. Plus, parks can increase real estate values. This was the perfect project for Garrett Churchill!
Bringing A Special Park To Life On Clean-Up Day
On a sunny Saturday afternoon, team members headed to the park at Germantown and Cayuga avenue with soil and equipment in hand.
Working alongside a great group of volunteers, we spent the afternoon whacking weeds and cleaning up pathways and areas around the play equipment. Benches and structures received a new paint job, which already made the park look great!
The Final Touches
Leveling and grading ground is one of the most important parts to ensuring a strong foundation for years to come. We wanted to make sure this park could be enjoyed by the community years down the road, so our landscaping experts got to work and helped with leveling different areas around the park.
To ensure the park was safe to enjoy, we assisted with cutting fallen trees and limbs, which required special equipment. At the end of the day, we removed an entire dumpster of debris from the park!
Garrett Churchill would like to extend a huge thank you to The Block Gives Back for an incredible day and an incredible cause. We would also like to thank our team members Ermin Torres and Ian Heavener for giving their time. Further, we appreciate Angel Medina for his commitment to the cause and his community.
